Asymmetric Surfboard

Asymmetric surfboards were invented by Carl Eckstrom in the 60’s, he realised that it was completely nonsensical to surf symmetric boards as you don’t surf with your two feet together facing the front of the board. You turn by either leaning forward or leaning backward, but you have more control on your toes than you do balancing on your heels, for this reason there are a few specific aspects that you can change on a board to make turning on your heel side easier. Here is one of the innovators at the forefront of asymmetric experimentation Donald Brink giving a brief insight into some of the design aspects.
